Mariadora Strevina

Trained in architecture, Mariadora came to ceramics through an elemental encounter with clayβ€”an experience that gradually reoriented her understanding of space, form, and rhythm. What began as a quiet exploration evolved into a contemplative, hands-on dialogue, where each piece emerges from a place between instinct and discipline.

Her practice is rooted in traditional handbuilding techniques, refined through years of apprenticeship with Greek ceramicists and shaped by exchanges with artists in Greece and abroad. Whether sculptural form or vessel, her work develops slowly and intuitively, guided by the physicality of the process and the unpredictability of the material.

Her forms echo the quiet asymmetries of the natural world and the human bodyβ€”curves, tensions, and gestures that feel both ancient and immediate. She creates work that invites pause, offering a quiet intimacy between object and viewer.

Based in Athens, Mariadora’s sculptures and vessels embody a grounded eleganceβ€”raw in texture, deliberate in rhythm, and deeply connected to the act of making.
