Camp 3 - Monotype

These monotypes are part of a body of work reinterpreting paintings from the Baroque and Romanticism from the perspective of a contemporary female artist. I connect classical works to images from mass culture, the news and porn magazines. I want to create landscapes of flesh, a fluid materiality in which the inside and the outside, space and figure, the figures themselves, lose their boundaries and become one. I step on my internal rhythm and the music I listen to while I work.

Katerina Papazissi is a Greek-Cypriot painter and printmaker whose monotype works reinterpret the visual vocabulary of Baroque and Romantic painting through a contemporary female perspective.
